Human papillomavirus, the treatment of which we will discuss in this publication, is a very common disease. There are more carriers of this virus than people who don't get HPV. To date, several methods of treating this disease have been developed. They are conventionally divided into two groups: conservative and destructive methods of treatment.
Unfortunately, until recently, it was not possible to completely destroy the human papillomavirus. Modern means and methods of medicine can only stop the development of the virus, get rid of the papillomas that have appeared, and prevent the exacerbation of the disease, which leads to the formation of new papillomas.
Human papillomavirus, once settled in the body, remains in it for life. When the immune system is weakened, it is activated, resulting in neoplasms on the skin.
Treatment of human papillomavirus by conservative methods
Conservative treatment of HPV consists of a series of measures aimed at strengthening the immune system and suppressing the development of the virus. In some cases, this is sufficient, and the use of operational methods is not necessary.
Important:a positive result can only be achieved if the treatment is prescribed by a specialist. Self-medication in this case cannot be carried out. The task of the doctor is to carry out a medical examination of the patient with the further appointment of individual therapy.
Usually, interferon-based drugs are prescribed for the treatment of human papillomavirus. Substances that suppress the development of this virus are produced by a healthy body in sufficient quantities. But with weakened immunity, an increase in the concentration of this substance in the blood is necessary. The drug is absorbed into the bloodstream, begins to affect the body.
Also, as part of the treatment of papillomas by conservative methods, in some cases, the administration of certain antiviral drugs is indicated.
In a number of cases, the use of special creams, gels and sprays has been shown to destroy the virus in local tissues. Under certain conditions, its use leads to necrosis of virally affected tissues, which makes it possible to abandon the use of destructive methods of treatment.
Treatment of human papillomavirus by destructive methods
Destructive treatment is aimed at destroying the tissue affected by the virus directly. These methods can be roughly divided into two groups: chemical, physical.
The chemical method of treating papillomas involves removing the virus-affected tissue using chemicals. Currently, several groups of drugs have been developed to remove papillomas in various areas.
There are several physical methods for removing papillomas. The most widespread methods are electrocoagulation, cryodestruction, radiosurgery, laser therapy.
Electrocoagulation involves removing the papilloma using a high-frequency electric current. This method has been used for a long time and has proven to be very effective. But it also has drawbacks. First of all, it is a painful sensation after the operation, which lasts a long time.
Cryodestruction, also a widely used method for treating papillomas, reduces patient discomfort. This method is based on freezing the affected tissue using liquid nitrogen. Healing of ulcers that form as a result of cryodestruction occurs within one to two weeks. At the same time, there is no trace left on the skin.
This method is used exclusively for the removal of skin papillomas. If it is necessary to remove papillomas on the cervix, this method is not used, due to its ineffectiveness in this case.
The most optimal method of treating human papillomas in terms of effectiveness, painlessness and duration of the postoperative period is laser removal of papillomas. This method is based on the use of a surgical laser.
The peculiarity of this method is that immediately after removal of the affected tissue, the laser seals the blood vessels, which prevents possible bleeding. This method does not cause complications or scarring. The duration of the recovery period is one month.
There is another modern method of removing papillomas - radiosurgery. This method is based on the use of special equipment that bypasses damaged tissue by exposing it to strong high-frequency radio waves.
Although the modern methods described above are successfully used in medicine, surgical removal of papillomas is still very popular. This is probably the most painful method, involving a long postoperative period. But in some cases, the implementation of this particular method is shown. For example, surgical removal of papillomas on the cervix is used in oncology.
Recovery period
Regardless of which method is used to remove papillomas, a number of measures must be followed after surgery. Including, abundant drinking is shown, adherence to a sparing regimen.
Also, comprehensive measures are needed to reduce the concentration of the papilloma virus in the body. Usually, for this purpose, the administration of drugs that strengthen the immune system is prescribed.
Remember that removing papillomas on the skin or mucous membranes does not eliminate the presence of this virus in the body. To avoid the re-formation of papillomas, it is necessary to lead a healthy lifestyle, visit the doctor regularly.
